Registered nurses on BSN programs

Write your answers beneath each question that includes the section, paragraph, and page number
in the article where you located your answers (i.e. Methods section, para, 3, p. 2).

_1___Theoretical Framework (2) What was the name of the theory that was used to guide the
study? If provided, identify the name of the germinal (original) theorist. (i.e. leadership theory by
Joseph Rost (1993). Explain why the theory was applicable to the research study.
2.____Review of Literature (2)
In your own words, describe how the literature review was organized (state what topic presented
first, second, etc.).
Were there historical sources cited as well as current ones published within five years of the
study’s publication date to support the need for the study?
How many sources were current and how many were historical as presented in the references?
3.Sample and Sampling Technique (2)
What was the sample and what specific random or non-random sampling technique was used to
choose the sample from the population?
How was an appropriate sample size determined?

  1. Theoretical Framework (2) What was the name of the theory that was used to guide the
study? If provided, identify the name of the germinal (original) theorist. (i.e. leadership
theory by Joseph Rost (1993). Explain why the theory was applicable to the research study.
The theory is used in the study but not mentioned, is leadership theory that was advanced by
Joseph Rost (1993). The theory enlists the responsibilities and the way leaders ought to behave
and execute their roles. This theory therefore, was applicable to this kind of research study
because it talks about leadership, which the study focuses on. Managers and peers should
exemplify positive leadership to help them establish positive and cordial relationship to ensure
that workers execute their roles well. Only good leadership is likely to motivate employees to
remain committed to their duties and responsibilities.
  2. Review of Literature (2) In your own words, describe how the literature review was
organized (state what topic presented first, second, etc.). Were there historical sources cited
as well as current ones published within five years of the study’s publication date to
support the need for the study? How many sources were current and how many were
historical as presented in the references?
The literature review is systematically organized. It is precise and clear as various points are well
articulated. For instance, the first paragraph of the review introduces the concept of satisfaction,
which is linked to leadership (Literature review section, para, 1, p. 27) Satisfaction is defined and
this makes it easier for the readers to understand the concept. The following paragraphs then
provide various ways through which the registered nurses can be satisfied. Several factors that

lead to satisfaction are presented such as age, duration of service and environment, interpersonal
relationships among others. Both historical and current sources of information were cited. For
instance, the historical references were 11 while current sources used were 15.

  1. Sample and Sampling Technique (2) What was the sample and what specific random or
non-random sampling technique was used to choose the sample from the population? How
was an appropriate sample size determined?
The sample size selected for the study is not provided but the samples were taken from
registered nurses on BSN programs and nurse leadership program. Simple random sampling
technique was used to get the sample size for the population. The appropriate size was
determined based on the total number of the population. The aim was to ensure that sample size
selected was representative to ensure that any information that is gathered represents the views of
    the majority population.
