Field Experience Plan Methodology

Field Experience Plan Methodology
In previous projects, you reflected upon the communication skills and plan of action
needed for securing a field experience site. For the Unit 7 Project, you will submit an
updated plan for confirming your field experience site. In this plan, include the methods by
which you will approach your sites, how you will use a systemic method in contacting these
sites, and how you will handle rejection.
Important note: You will not contact sites until PU550. Please save this information to your
computer and continue to prepare for PU550

Field experience site

In carrying out the field research there are various methods that the field researcher may
use in order to get the best quality of information from the field. The methods used depend on
the type of site that the researcher is intending to research on.
In this case, the following are the methods that will be used in the field. The use of
participant observation, this method is characterized by a prolonged period of social interaction
between the researcher and the respondents. In-depth interview takes the form of a conversation
in which the researcher probes deeply to uncover new clues, to open up new dimensions of a
problem, or to secure vivid, accurate, and detailed accounts that are based on personal experience
of the subject.
The researcher can use projective techniques where imaginary situations are described to
a group and the respondents are allowed to project their own beliefs, feelings in response to such
a stimulus thereby making accessible attitudes band feelings which could otherwise be hidden.
Sampling can also be used but it entails very careful selection of the sample respondents.

FINAL PROJECT PART 4 2
In contacting the site of study it is very important first to conduct a reconnaissance, this
entails getting just an overview of the respondents you are expecting in the field and
familiarizing yourself with the field site. After the reconnaissance the researcher has to plan on
the materials that he/she is expected to carry to the field. In planning the materials to carry the
researcher also identifies the means of transport to the field and budgets on the same. Then lastly
is to check and ensure that the things the researcher wanted are in place and get ready for the
field.
In the field, there are so many types of people with different perceptions, some may
respond and others may not respond. Therefore, the researcher should be prepared
psychologically and should expect rejections. When rejected the researcher should look at the
method he/she used to approach respondent and improve on that. Also should not feel
demoralized but rather maintain the spirit and energy.
Prior preparation prevents poor performance in the field. It’s therefore very important for
the researcher to plan very well keeping in mind every single detail. Following the above
analyzed steps the researcher can be assured of the best quality data.

Plan for confirming field experience site

Field Experience Plan Methodology

Field experience plan is required to provide guideline and rood map for a researcher. This
paper provided a plan for confirming my field experience site.
Confirmation plan will be in form of a letter to the respective authorities responsibility for the
