Research questions in this article are:
- To which degree does the spiritual care perspectives of nursing students account for their expressions of spiritual empathy? (Chism &Magnan, 2009).
- What is the association between demographic and spirituality characteristics, and expression of spiritual empathy? (Chism &Magnan, 2009).
Hypothesis and Variables
Hypothesis of this article is that: this article is aimed at analyzing the extent to which spiritual care perspectives of the of the nursing students account for their demonstrations of spiritual empathy, and study the association of spirituality and demographic characteristics to expression of spiritual sympathy (Chism &Magnan, 2009). According to Chism &Magnan (2009), the variables were alpha and power.
Theoretical Framework
Theoretical framework of this article is determining the degree to which spiritual care perspectives of nursing students account for their expressions of spiritual sympathy as directed by Chism’s Middle-Range Theory of Spiritual Empathy (Chism &Magnan, 2009)

Is the article a qualitative or quantitative research study? Explain your reasoning
This article is qualitative research study. This is because one of the purpose or objectives of qualitative research study is to gain a comprehension of fundamental reasons and motivations of people, event or activity (Chism &Magnan, 2009). Similarly, the objective of this article is to analyze the extent to which spiritual care perspectives of the of the nursing students account for their demonstrations of spiritual empathy, and study the association of spirituality and demographic characteristics to expression of spiritual sympathy (Chism &Magnan, 2009). Hence, this article is seeking to understand some reasons and motivations, hence making it to fall in the class of qualitative research study.
