Review each of the assigned articles in this week’s Learning Resources. Think about
prevention and intervention strategies that might be implemented in a crisis response plan
for the populations affected. Pay attention to cultural, ethical, and legal issues that may
arise when implementing a crisis response plan.
Select a crisis in the school or workplace that would benefit from having a crisis response
plan. This can be a crisis you have experienced, heard about, seen in the news, or read
about this week.
Consider the necessary components in a crisis response plan for the specific crisis you
selected.
Note any cultural, ethical, and/or legal issues related to the crisis response plan and its
implementation.
The assignment: (2-3 pages)
Briefly describe the crisis you selected and the context in which it occurred or might
occur. Provide sufficient detail to explain/justify your plan.
Develop a crisis response plan for the crisis you selected. Be very specific and include all
necessary components for an effective response. This plan should be appropriate to the
specific setting and crisis you have described.
Explain any cultural, ethical, and/or legal issues related to the crisis response plan and its
implementation
Community Crisis Response Plan
Introduction
In the current world, many crises occur and are very important for organizations and as
well individuals to always have a crisis response and preparedness plan. This will ensure that
various crisis are well managed. Different crises happen and differ in their magnitude. Putting in
place prevention and intervention strategies is vital. The paper deliberates on the various aspects
that entail crisis response plan.

COMMUNITY CRISIS RESPONSE PLAN 2
In our lives, we encounter and experience different kinds of crisis. One of the crises I
believe would benefit from crisis response plan is fire outbreak. Fire outbreaks happen more or
less on daily basis in different organizations and locations. The consequences of such incidences
are severe as they cause loss of property and life (Bremer, 2013). Understanding how to respond
to such crisis can help alleviate the losses and destructions usually experienced.
Components on response
In such a scenario, various components on response crisis are required to be upheld. The
organization should be always ready to deal with any cases of a crisis. People should be prepared
always on the steps they should take during such incidences (Bremer, 2013). In an organization,
people should always be alert and aware of the steps they should take in case of a crisis. They
should know where emergency doors are and fire extinguishers located (Illinois Institute of
Technology, 2013). It is also important for them to have manual that direct them on how to carry
oneself during such incidences. They should also take stock by knowing the location of first –aid
kits, portable radios, and flashlights. This knowledge is important in ensuring that they respond
effectively to a fire outbreak without panicking.
Another component is communication. People should understand the right channels to
communicate to during a crisis (Bremer, 2013). They should have the contact of the specific
personnel that can help during such incidences.
Cultural, ethical, and legal aspects
It is also very important to consider cultural, ethical and legal aspects related to crisis
response plan and its implementation. Crisis happens in different locations and understanding the
methods or strategies is critical to ensure success of the plan. People have different cultures and

different notions to what they refer to ethical. Legal aspects also do vary from one jurisdiction to
another and should be always taken into consideration. For instance, one of the important
components relating to culture in responding to a fire outbreak is communication (Miehl, 2011).
Different institutions have different policies on how the communication should be handled in the
organization in case of a crisis. Some requires that a hierarchy is followed where by an officer at
lower level should be called to conduct the higher officers. Therefore, protocol is highly
required. In such environments, it may be a bit complex to address a crisis, but this should
always be adhered to. Legal aspects in some countries and organizations also do vary. For
instance, some of the organizations have policies that deter placement of first aid kits in their
buildings. This therefore, can be an impediment to the crisis response plan. The evacuation
policies or rules at times of fire outbreaks may also differ from one location to another (Illinois
Institute of Technology, 2013). Therefore, in such situations, it is imperative that the law is
adhered to avoid any conflicts.
Conclusion
Effective responses is essential as it helps to mitigate the crisis and avoid further loses or
damages. Organizations and individuals must always be prepared and understand how they
should respond to a crisis. It is also prudent to understand the kind of the crisis to be in a position
to know what should be done as different crises calls for different response plan. Consideration
of ethical, cultural, and legal aspects during a crisis planning and implementation is key to ensure
that conflicts do not occur.
