Due to an increase in the world population at an alarming rate, over the past few decades, it has
become imperative to conserve the natural resources available and focus on renewable energy.
The essence of conserving these natural resources entails the maintenance of ecological balance
and preserving them for future generations. However, the attainment of such objectives
necessitates proper management of the natural resources and the prevention of their destruction,
as well as exploitation. As such, human negligence, overpopulation, and the excessive
exploitation of the natural resources available may lead to their extinction, thereby adversely
affecting future generations (Bennett et al. 2018). Therefore, the significance of conserving the
resources available entails supporting life through ecological balance, ensuring that future
generations get sufficient access, preserving biodiversity, and safeguarding the survival of the
human race.
Most fundamentally, some of the approaches that can be used in the promotion of
environmental sustainability and stewardship at the community, national, and global levels
include the reduction of the carbon footprint in the production, transportation, and processing of
food. These approaches should be coupled with the reduction of meat consumption, growing
own foods or purchasing from local markets, compositing natural waste, and adopting alternative

transportation strategies. Additionally, communities, nations, and regions should collaborate in
the reduction of single-use plastics and micro-plastics, increase awareness on the risks associated
with hazards environmental issues, and advocate for climate-friendly practices (Bennett et al.
2018).
Besides, the practices that should be adopted in the reduction of the ecological footprint
include the minimization of the utilization of single-use, disposable plastics, switching to
renewable energy, and the reduction of waste at the household, neighborhood, and community
levels. Similarly, people embrace the notion of eating less meat as its production is a major
source of greenhouse gas emissions (Bennett et al. 2018). Instead, people should adopt practices
such as driving less, recycling responsibly, reducing the use of water, and supporting local
products.
