Clinical practice guidelines are statements systematically developed to help nurse practitioner during decision making processes. This is to ensure that the clinical decision reached is appropriate and specific for the clinical circumstances. This helps in reducing inappropriate variations in clinical practice, which promotes delivery of quality and evidence based services. Through these guidelines, the healthcare professionals are held accountable for their clinical actions. The clinical practice guideline adopted during this practicum is the Million Hearts Hypertension control guideline by CDC (Centres for Disease Control and Prevention, 2013).
