Non communicable diseases clinical practice guidelines

Clinical practice guidelines are statements systematically developed to help nurse practitioner during decision making processes. This is to ensure that the clinical decision reached is appropriate and specific for the clinical circumstances. This helps in reducing inappropriate variations in clinical practice, which promotes delivery of quality and evidence based services. Through these guidelines, the healthcare professionals are held accountable for their clinical actions. The clinical practice guideline adopted during this practicum is the Million Hearts Hypertension control guideline by CDC (Centres for Disease Control and Prevention, 2013).

 Non communicable diseases remain the leading cause of mortality of both men and women in the USA.  However, there are substantial gender differences in their prevalence’s and disease burden. For instance, CDC reports indicate that women accounts for 60.6 % of cardiovascular diseases in the USA.  Similar trends are observed in diabetes and mental disorders.  This is attributable to the fact that female have higher life expectancy than men, which makes them constitute larger proportion of geriatric population in which hypertension……………
