The gastrointestinal (GI) system consists of various parts includes small intestine, stomach, esophagus and the large intestine. Each of the parts has unique functions that involved in the digestion process. Each part has unique type of sensation and motility.  When motility or sensations are altered, the disorder symptoms may present. There are various motility disorders that affect the GI tract. This paper evaluates the parts involved in gastric acid stimulation and production; and the disorders involved.

 Acid secretion is done by parietal cells which occupies approximately two thirds of a person’s stomach. The main role of these acids is to establish an optimal pH for enzymatic activity of gastric lipase and pepsin.
