Community leader

The community leader is very useful in the health promotion proposal and can offer various kinds of supports including affiliation, instrumental, informational, and emotional (Wand, 2011). The community leader can work through village elders to identify people who are mentally ill as a result of substance abuse. Moreover, they can work through heads in various institutions to identify sources and traffickers of different substances so as to ensure that circulation of substances is terminated in the community.

A call to support the Mental Health and Substance Abuse Health Promotion Proposal

It has been noted that there is a high tendency of people with mental illness seeking out self-medication drugs. These people are not aware that these attempts only result to huge problem-addiction. Luckily, proper diagnosis and treatment assists the addict to recover from the condition. This is the reason why the health promotion proposal is very useful since the drug addicts and people with mental illness will be diagnosed, treated, and proper measures put in place so as to ensure that there is no accessibility to various substances in the community. People suffering from mental illnesses are usually more sensitive on taking any substance; the effects are more than the addiction.

The community leader has a role in the proposal since he is in a better position to help identify victims and assist them in forming peer groups (Palmer, 2011). He can also facilitate the victims’ contact with other people so that they engage in recreational and social skills, acquire a belonging sense, and have self worth.

As the community leader, there are a lot of roles to play so as to assist in the health promotion proposal. Hence, you are kindly requested to be part of the cause and help in improving the community and its people.

A call to support the Mental Health and Substance Abuse Health Promotion Proposal

It takes a comprehensive health promotion proposal and professional treatment facility so as to be in a position to properly diagnose the substance abuse disorders as well as mental illnesses that result from it. Chronic substance addicts with a mental illness are acknowledge to be having a co-occurring condition, which is very hard to diagnose (Weinstein, 2011). Since the two conditions are entangled, it makes it very difficult to understand the condition that is causing every symptom. Usually, people with mental illness are notorious for taking cocaine, alcohol, and marijuana to self-medicate. Alcohol is the most popular choice.

The role of the community health advisors cannot be underrated in the proposal. This is because they will be in direct contact with the patients and help in making referrals, advising all community members about their health aspects, and ensuring that people value their health, life, and well-being.

As such, all the community health advisors are kindly requested to join in and support this humble cause.
